Northwest Arkansas is a gorgeous place to visit any time of year, but it is breathtaking in the fall. All of the colors are so vibrant. It’s definitely worth a visit just for the foliage, but the surrounding cities like Bentonville, can’t be missed during your trip! The best thing about Bentonville is there is something for everyone. The quaint downtown area is my favorite. Check out some of my go-to activities when in Bentonville!

Where to Stay
For our long weekend trip to Northwest Arkansas, we stayed at the DoubleTree. The rooms were very clean, and they greet you with warm chocolate chip walnut cookies. Yum!
The breakfast was tasty, but it was very crowded while we were there. A wedding had reserved the entire executive lounge so everyone had to eat in the downstairs buffet area. I was told that the hotel is not allowing the lounge to be reserved any longer due to the effects on the other hotel guests. The hotel did provide us with complimentary water bottles and printed out maps for our cycling adventures! 🙂
Walmart Museum and Walton’s 5-10 Store
If you love Walmart then you have to visit this cool little museum. It’s free to enter, and it’s full of Sam Walton’s story from past to present. Once you finish learning all about Walmart then you need to walk right into the Walton’s 5-10 Store for a Yarnell’s ice cream cone for less than $1. The little shop is like a trip back in time. There are vintage toys and candy to look at too.
Explore the Numerous Trail Systems
If you live an active life then you HAVE to get outside and explore the numerous trail systems in NWA (northwest Arkansas). A lot of the trails are traffic-free and completely safe. Even if you don’t cycle, you need to get outside and walk some of these trails. The Compton Gardens have gorgeous paths that are shaded. Don’t miss them!
Visit the Crystal Bridges Museum
Even if you aren’t “artsy”, it’s fun to stroll around the various exhibits inside and outside the Crystal Bridges Museum. The main attractions are free to visit. This area has some wonderful strolling/cycling paths too.
Visit the Square
The square in downtown Bentonville is filled with cool restaurants, fun shops, and a farmer’s market that runs April 22-October 28 on Saturdays, 7:30 am-1:00 pm.
Each month downtown Bentonville now has First Friday which is a community block party that is the first Friday of each month from 4:30 pm-8:00 pm. The block party has live music, good food, and fun for everyone!
Yummy Food to Try
I don’t know about you, but ice cream/custard is a MUST on any adventure. If you are in the area then you must try Braum’s and Andy’s Custard. We stopped and grabbed fries at Braum’s before heading to Andy’s for custard. Braum’s has great cheeseburgers too! 🙂 Some other great restaurants to try are:
Tavola Trattoria (Italian)
Table Mesa Bistro (Latin Cuisine)
Oven & Tap (Wood-fired pizza, sandwiches, and more)
Pho Thanh (Vietnamese)
Crepes Paulette (Food truck)
Don’t Miss Out on the Surrounding Areas
Since you are already in the area then you don’t want to miss out on the surrounding beauty of NWA!
You should take the scenic route up the pig trail (pictured above and below), it takes longer, but it’s so worth it!
