For an Active Day in L.R.
Arkansas River Trail
One of my favorite activities to do in Little Rock is cycle the Arkansas River Trail. The trail is mostly traffic-free and very safe. The diversity of terrain is amazing. I love seeing the river, lakes, forests, and animals while I ride my bike. Bring a picnic lunch and choose a shady spot to enjoy it. There are also plenty of bathroom facilities to stop and get a drink at a water fountain. It’s the perfect place for a ride, a run, or just a leisurely walk. 🙂
Don’t forget to check out the Big Dam Bridge at night. It’s gorgeous when it is all lit up with lights!
Check Out a Park
While you are near the Arkansas River Trail, take a stroll through one of the gorgeous parks. Some of my favorites are:
The Emerald Park trail is beautiful and so peaceful.
Two Rivers Park is beautiful near the river. See if you can spot some wildlife!
Take a Hike
Pinnacle Mountain Hike
There are a few great hikes in the Little Rock area. The most well-known is Pinnacle Mountain. There are two trails that will lead you to the summit. Once you reach the top, you will forget about your burning calf muscles and aching thighs. 😉 The views at the top are breathtaking. Be aware that the park gates close one hour after sunset.
The two trails are different. If you are up for a challenge then try the west side trail.
Emerald Bluff Hike
This is my favorite hike for the Little Rock area! I love it because the hike is pretty easy, and you can ride to the top on your bike because the majority of the trail is paved. The views of the bluffs are beautiful. I want to visit in the fall and see the autumn colors. 🙂
Such great views for an enjoyable hike!
Bring a picnic and enjoy it from the top!
Educational Field Trip
If you are a history buff or just interested in learning then you will find a lot to keep you interested in Little Rock. Some of my favorite educational stops include:
the state capitol ( I loved it so much that I had my bridal pictures taken here! Thanks Mandy!) It’s stunning at Christmas. 🙂
Old Statehouse Museum (They have amazing Christmas concerts!)
Clinton Presidential Center (Check out their permanent and mobile exhibits.)
Central High (Where the Little Rock 9 attended school.)
A Little Bit of the Arts
If you want to hear some music, check out local art work, or watch a play production then these places in Little Rock should be on your list:
Arkansas Symphony Orchestra (They have great themed music nights.)
Arkansas Repertory Theater (My parents saw a play here at Christmas and loved it!)
Just for Fun
If you are wanting a relaxing and fun day in the capitol city then there are several things that you can see and do without spending a lot of money.
Check out the fall foliage at the Riverfront Park.
Stroll along the riverfront
Visit the River Market
Go to an Arkansas Travelers Game
See the animals at the zoo
Touch the sky at Altitude Trampoline Park
Do a little bit of everything at the Big Rock Fun Park
There is always something yummy to eat at the River Market in downtown L.R.
There are plenty of paths to walk near the river.
There is no shortage of restaurants in Little Rock. We don’t typically eat at the “fancier” restaurants so you won’t see any of those on my list, but here are a few of the places that we frequent when we eat out. 🙂
Iriana’s-The best pizza I’ve ever had. The crust is perfect!
Five Guys-My very favorite burger place. I love that I can put ALL the toppings on my burger for no extra charge. Their Cajun french fries are plentiful and bomb (dip in malt vinegar, trust me), and their shakes are delicious!
Chuy’s-I know this is a chain, but this one is so good! Their creamy jalapeno ranch dip is fantastic. Now I need some Tex-Mex food.
Stickyz-They have super tasty chicken tenders. You can customize your seasoning and your dipping sauce. Don’t get in a hurry. Their service can be a tad slow. They also have live music so check their website for details.
Kilwin’s-Yummy ice cream and other sweet treats
BJ’s Brewery-Get the peanut butter s’mores pizookie! You will need milk/coffee. It is fabulous.
Instagrammable Spots in Little Rock
There are an abundance of spots in L.R. to take cool photos to blow up your IG account.
Everywhere in the Argenta Arts District is gorgeous. We had our engagement photos taken there. 🙂 Thanks again Mandy!
The Old Mill is another great photo op. I had a great photo of the mill, and it got deleted. Bummer. Did you know that part of Gone With the Wind was filmed here?
Don’t forget about Riverfront Park.
