How Can You Make Money on the Side?
1. Create Your Own Blog
One way to make extra cash is to start a blog that is monetized. You can make money writing reviews about products that you already own and love. Useful affiliate ads can bring in a passive income as well.
If you are knowledgeable about certain topics and feel passionate about sharing your expertise then starting a profitable blog is the way to go! For more information about starting a blog and the FREE essential resources that you need, read these posts.
There are no limitations with monetizing a blog when you own your domain name and are self-hosted. I love using HostGator. When you choose your host, you can become an affiliate for their company which makes you money!
2. Utilize Swagbucks
Swagbucks is a company who rewards members with free gift cards to various companies and cash for things that you already do online every day. You can earn points by watching videos (or letting them play on your phone while you do other things), answering surveys (some are short and others are longer), and even searching the internet by using their search bar.
Once you have reached 500 points, which doesn’t take long at all, you can redeem your points for free gift cards to places like Amazon or Walmart or get cash back from PayPal. It’s a no brainer for sure. Sign-up today!
3. Make Money with Ebates
Ebates is another rewards program that pays you to shop. To earn money through Ebates, you shop through the Ebates website at your favorite stores. Earn cash back on your purchases and then receive your check or PayPal payment.
If you are an avid online shopper then you can earn some serious cash via Ebates. You earn up to 40% cash back on almost everything that you buy. There are over 2,000 stores that you can earn cash from through Ebates.
4. Selling a Service
If you are knowledgeable in a particular area then why not sell your helpful services to others? People will pay for services in areas where they lack expertise. Once you have gained a following and put in the research and time into your field then you can begin charging for your services.
It’s a good idea to have reviews of some of your customers to grow a trustworthy business. Just a few examples of paid services are:
planning vacations, travel advice/itinerary building
social media expert/marketing
The list could go on and on. Put in the time, do the work, and soon you could be making money by helping others.
5. Building Custom Wood Items
Are you a talented builder? Can you build those amazing floating shelves or some fantastic vintage bottle cap catchers? Use your talent to make some extra cash! You can sell items on Facebook, Etsy, and even Craigslist. The opportunities are endless.
Create a Facebook Business page, take photos of some of your work, and create a trendy graphic using Canva. Now you are ready to sell your custom pieces! Get ideas for what you should build by searching Pinterest. 🙂 Give me a follow on Pinterest for inspiration!
6. Create Custom Prints/Graphics
Do you want to know what is SO popular right now? Prints with inspirational quotes, cool calligraphy, and a dreamy watercolor type picture. Pinterest and Etsy are full of them!
If you know your way around a graphic design program then you can make good money by selling your custom prints on Etsy. If you combine your custom prints store with a monetized blog then you can make a chunk of money to save for something special (or use for bills!)
7. Rent Out a Space in Your Home with Airbnb
Do you live in a popular tourist destination? Do you have an extra room or area in your home? You should sign-up for Airbnb to host your extra space to travelers.
If you don’t have the space then you can sign-up to become a co-host for your neighborhood. Maybe one of your neighbors have extra space but no extra time to host people. That’s where you come in! You can help yourself and your neighbor increase your income by co-hosting.
Don’t have any room or any neighbors with space? You can still make money through Airbnb by becoming an experience host. An experience host can be a hiker, chef, or knowledgeable local that will improve the experience of Airbnb users in your area. Your “experience” can last a few days or multiple days over a period of time.
Airbnb is a great option for budget travel and for increasing your income. If you haven’t signed-up yet then check out my referral link and receive $40 in travel credit!
8. Create and Build Apps
If you are tech savvy then you should consider creating apps for smart phones and tablets. What will make your app stand out from the rest?
Identify a problem that you can solve.
Design an app to solve the problem.
Create a clean, glitch-free app
Spread the word about your app and earn a high rating
MyAppBuilder is a great site to use to build your app. They offer templates for various app types. You can also use their experts if you have a business app built that needs more meticulous coding.
Swiftic is another great option for app building. Swiftic is the world’s leading DIY app builder. This company used to be called Como DIY. This site is very user-friendly and easy to use.
9. Landscaping/Yard Work for Neighbors
Do you own any lawn equipment? Chances are that if you have a yard of some kind then you at least own a push lawn mower. People will pay decent money to have their yards maintained. Even if you can’t commit to mowing a yard every two weeks, maybe you could weed-eat or blow leaves off lawns. A lot of people do not have time to keep their yards looking the way they want them to look. Offer your services to your neighborhood, and wait for the cash to flow in. 🙂
10. Clean Houses
If you enjoy cleaning (or if you don’t enjoy it but are good at it) then offering to clean a house or two in your neighborhood may be the side-job for you! Some elderly people are not able to tidy up their homes like they used to. Offer to clean once a week or as your schedule allows.

11. Sell Your Produce at a Farmers’ Market
If you grow produce then you can make extra cash by selling the best of your bounty at a local farmers’ market. Check out the guidelines for your local markets online or make a phone call to the person who organizes the events. My local markets set-up their produce stands on certain days of the month at the same time. See if their schedule will work out for you, and start selling that produce!

12. Become a Secret Shopper
Who wouldn’t want to get paid to shop and eat at restaurants? If you enjoy giving your honest opinions and experiences to companies and restaurants then you should apply to be a secret shopper. Here are a few companies to start your secret shopper search:
13. Test and Review Websites
Did you know that you can make money by testing out websites and reviewing them? One easy way to make $10 for 10-20 minutes worth of work is by signing-up for User Testing. All you need to start making money through this site is an external microphone for your computer. I ordered this one.
How does it work? User Testing will send your assignments to your dashboard. You basically “think out loud” into the microphone. The assignments are created to help the company with trouble shooting various areas of their website. The tasks are quick and simple. The more you speak your thought out loud into the microphone, the more likely it will be for you to get sent more tasks. Easy way to make a little money. 🙂
14. Become a Click Worker
A click worker is someone who performs various tasks for companies online and gets paid for it. The money varies depending on the task at hand. ClickWorker is a great place to get started. It is very well-known in the world of “click jobs”.
15. Make Money by “Pinning” on MavenX
MavenX is similar to Pinterest, but you are able to save items that you like or sell to boards. When others purchase the items through your link you receive a commission. Download the Chrome Extension for easy saving to your Maven boards. 🙂 Here is a link to my boards!
